Peter,

My MP is also a Peter, Ainsworth that is and if you know him catch up with my work on www.blindedebixenon.co.uk as I have uncovered statistics and a complete lack of understanding of standards of driving in the hours of darkness that are as shocking as the MP's expense scandals. I have possative ideas that will be more than cost effective. I hope we me up sometime. Ken

Peter

Some interesting thoughts.

Not only is our media guilty by omission of failing society's need to properly understand the responsibilities entailed when we take motor vehicles onto the roads, but even more so, its celebration of "recreational risk taking" in such programs as Top Gear and many other such "lifestyle" programs actually encourages a flippant attitude to the responsibilities of driving.

Add to that whole supplements in the Sunday and daily newspapers extolling the virtues of ridiculously fast and powerful motor vehicles as status symbols and you have an influence on the public's attitude to driving which is far from benign.

With regard to Taxi driver's I never tip them if they exceed the speed limit. In fact, I would be inclined to report them to the licensing authority as well.

And memorial flowers should be a very chilling reminder that the average number of flowers you see in a bunch these days, is about equal to the average number of people killed on our roads each day.

Best regards
