Dave Conway

Dave has 40 years’ experience in the highways maintenance and construction industry.

His focus for the last 15 of those years has been management systems and standards, and in 2012 he created a Road Traffic Safety Management System for FM Conway Ltd, based on the new international standard, ISO 39001, Road Traffic Safety Management Systems.

This led to the company becoming only the third company in Europe, and the seventeenth in the World, to achieve certification against the standard.

He is a passionate supporter of the standard and devotes time to both promoting it and assisting other businesses to adopt it.

In 2017, Dave was appointed to the voluntary role of Chairman of the British Standards Institute (BSI) Technical Committee, RTS/1.

This Committee represents the UK interests in the  development of British and International standards for Road Traffic Safety, and is the UK Mirror Committee feeding into ISO TC241, the Technical Committee of the International Standards Organisation (ISO) responsible for the ISO39000 group of International Road Traffic Safety Management System Standards.

The International Committee developed and published ISO 39001 and is currently working on “ISO 39002 – Good practices in implementing commuting safety management”.
