The Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS) is the interface between research and transport safety policy. It aims to bring together safety professionals to analyse research findings and to promote policy options to the Houses of Parliament and to Government departments and agencies.
To achieve this, it seeks to establish positive links with MPs, Peers, civil servants and Parliamentary researchers.
Based in offices overlooking Parliament in the heart of Westminster, PACTS has three full-time staff and access to the entire multi-modal transport safety network through our directors, parliamentary officers, working parties and members.
Income is derived from membership subscriptions, sponsorship, event income and research funding.
The combination of a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee means that the Directors carry the overall legal and financial responsibility for the organisation. The current Board of Directors comprises politicians, academics, retired public and private sector leaders and consultants.
Membership of PACTS offers an organisation the opportunity to join the growing network of those that undertake research or practical safety interventions and wish to see their conclusions carried forward for everyone's benefit. Membership is subject to the final approval of the Directors of PACTS.
