Jolyon Carroll

Jolyon Carroll, Vehicle Safety and Technology Consultant

With 15 years’ experience at TRL, Jolyon has contributed towards scientific projects covering a broad range of vehicle safety topics.

Jolyon’s work was focussed on biomechanics, initially. As such, he contributed towards several large projects funded by the European Commission, including a study on the feasibility of measures relating to the protection of pedestrians and other vulnerable road users – which supported the definition of the Phase II requirements in the Pedestrian Safety Regulation. This line of research is continuing alongside the General and Pedestrian Safety Regulation reviews and the Safe Mobility Measures being proposed now within Europe.

However, Jolyon is also taking on responsibilities surrounding autonomous vehicle projects, including MOVE_UK and StreetWise, where attention is given to the safe development and approval of automated driving systems.
