I am a Director and Trustee of PACTS and Chair of the Board of Trustees. I am also a non-Executive Director of a Bus Company, the Director for Transport Transformation at the University of Northampton and a Senior Visiting Research Fellow, School of Life & Medical Sciences, at the University of Hertfordshire.
I have over 40 years’ experience of working in the transport sector, most of which was gained through employment in upper tier local authorities. For more than half of my career in Local Government I occupied Senior Management roles as a Director, and was a Corporate, or Executive Director, at Board level of billion-pound councils for more than 16 years. I was directly responsible for a broad range of functions including Economic Development, Waste Disposal and Recycling, Highways and Transportation, Road Safety, Passenger Transport, Environmental Services, Energy Reduction and Carbon Management, Strategic Planning and Infrastructure, Development Control, Archaeology, Archives and Heritage, Strategic Land Holdings, Trading Standards, Property and Asset Management, Emergency Planning and the Fire and Rescue Service.
I have personally led on the delivery of major infrastructure projects and initiatives on behalf of local authorities, including many major road schemes, new bus stations, new railway stations, traffic management and safety schemes and a variety of complex projects ranging from the re-opening of railway lines to passenger services through to leading on new port developments and airport expansions at Southampton and Stansted. I have also developed and delivered five Park and Ride schemes across the country.
In the past, I have served on the RAC Foundation Public Policy Committee, the Board of the Freight Transport Association (FTA) and Chaired ADEPTs Transport Board.
I have also run my own company as Manging Director specialising in providing strategic policy advice and support on transport, infrastructure and environmental services to both the public and private sectors.
