PACTS, with IAM RoadSmart and Brake, wrote (6th May 2020) to Roads Minister Baroness Vere, expressing concerns about aspect of road safety during lockdown, requesting information on road casualty numbers and urging strong support for public transport, walking and cycling as restrictions are lifted. PACTS has responded to the Sentencing Council’s consultation on changes to the Magistrates’ Court sentencing guidelines. Smart motorways – safety measures needed but with extra funds

PACTS has written to the Secretary of State for Transport, Rt Hon Grant Shapps, urging improved safety on smart motorways. PACTS insists that these measures must be funded by additional government grant, or from Highways England’s major schemes budget, and not from its road safety budgets which are needed for other works on the network.
