Sheerman, Barry
That this House is saddened and distressed by the 53,697 deaths of motorcyclists since 1950 on British roads; notes that since a high point of 1,743 deaths in 1960 a level was reached in 2008 of 493 deaths; further commends all those, including motorcyclists and motorcyclists’ organisations, that have contributed to this reduction; further notes that all too often motorcycle accidents are caused as a direct result of the abysmal road behaviour of car drivers; and further calls for co-ordinated efforts to significantly reduce this avoidable cause of death and serious injury.
