YEARS (Young Europeans Acting for Road Safety) is a project run by ETSC and PACTS which seeks to gain a better understanding of young people (aged approximately 15-25) and the risks they face on the road.
This policy report written by PACTS looks at the current situation in Europe, using the latest data on road deaths involving young people and the main risks they face in their first years of driving and riding. It also explores example of good practice and effective measures that can be promoted.
A core part of YEARS is that it is about young people, for young people and also involves young people. The latest part of the project sees university students taking action by running communication campaigns aimed at preventing young road users’ deaths in their local area.
At the event we hope to be joined by student delegations from Loughborough and other UK universities who will help lead the panel discussions. It will be an opportunity to hear directly from young people on these key issues.
The event will also be an opportunity to hear the latest policy and innovations in road safety for young drivers and riders in the UK and across Europe. It will include presentations and panel discussions featuring experts (to be confirmed) from:
- European Commission
- TRL
- DVSA
- DfT
- ETSC
