Safety in the wider policy environment

The PACTS conference Improving safety on the UK’s major roads will be held on Tuesday 30th March, 11.00-15.00.
The conference will cover the UK’s strategic road networks and local authority main roads outside urban areas. It will also address the wider policy environment, such as improving air quality and decarbonation, and explore possible overlaps, synergies and tensions with safety.
It is supported by the Department for Transport and Highways England. There will also be speakers from Transport Scotland, the Welsh Government, local government and the private and voluntary sectors.
This is the first of three SWIPE conferences on the theme of road safety in the wider policy environment, including air quality, carbon emissions, active travel, CAV, EVs and more. The following conferences are planned:
- Improving safety on the UK’s major roads, 30 March
- Safe and sustainable travel on the path to vision zero, date tbc
- Decarbonisation, clean air and road safety, date tbc
They are supported by the Department for Transport and Highways England. Partners and speakers, covering all four nations of the UK, will be announced.
