Safer and Greener Vehicles
Safety in the wider policy environment
27 April 10.00 – 13.00 ONLINE
The PACTS Safer and Greener Vehicles online conference will take place on Tuesday 27th April 2021, 10.00-13.00 (UK time). Attendance is free, by registration in advance – see below. It us supported by the Department for Transport and Highways England.
Safer and Greener Vehicles will set out how improvements in vehicle safety have developed, with substantial benefits for vehicle occupants, and how future standards and regulations are being orientated to make motor vehicles avoid crashes and less dangerous for other road users. Leading researchers, safety practitioners and senior industry staff will present and take questions on advances in car, van and HGV safety. This will include international systems such as the General Safety Regulation and New Car Assessment Programmes, and local schemes such as London’s Safer Lorries and Bus Safety initiatives.
The relationship between safety improvements and environmental policy objectives (active travel, zero emissions, zero carbon, etc) will be examined, as will trends in the vehicle fleet towards electric vehicles and SUVs.
Speakers and panellists are drawn from TRL, Thatcham Research, Transport for London, Go-Ahead Group, Towards Zero Foundation and others.
