EVRi delivers more than one billion parcels every year across the UK, making road safety a key part of its operations. Over recent years, the organisation has developed its approach to transport safety, moving beyond a traditional compliance-based model towards one focused on continually raising standards and reducing road risk.
Road safety now forms part of EVRi’s published Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda, recognising that safe and efficient use of the road network is fundamental to both its business and its wider social responsibilities.
Raising standards in transport safety
Over the past two years, EVRi has introduced a range of initiatives designed to improve transport safety across the organisation.
Key areas of work include:

- Reviewing and strengthening transport safety policies and standards.
- Expanding advanced defensive driving through the EVRi Academy.
- Embedding road safety within the company’s wider ESG commitments.
- Focusing on preventing incidents before they occur through continual learning and improvement.
This work has contributed to a 15% reduction in reported transport incidents during 2025, followed by a further 25% reduction in reported incidents so far in 2026.
EVRi describes its approach simply: “The safest incident is the one avoided entirely.”
Why EVRi joined PACTS
When reviewing its approach to work-related road risk, PACTS was one of the first organisations EVRi chose to engage with.
The organisation wanted to be part of a wider community committed to improving transport safety, recognising that meaningful progress comes through collaboration rather than organisations working in isolation.
As EVRi explains:
“We joined PACTS not because we thought we had all the answers, but because we knew that striving for transport safety is something best done in meaningful and occasionally challenging collaboration.”
Membership enables EVRi to learn from others across the transport sector, contribute to policy discussions and share experiences with organisations facing similar challenges.
Current focus and opportunities
EVRi believes one of the greatest opportunities to improve road safety lies in supporting the people who use the roads.
While vehicles continue to become safer and infrastructure continues to improve, the organisation is increasingly focused on driver behaviour, habits, health and wellbeing, recognising that these factors have a significant influence on road safety outcomes.
Current work includes collaborating with external organisations on driver wellbeing, alongside improving how driving performance is defined, measured and supported across the business.
EVRi acknowledges that managing work-related road risk is an ongoing process and that there is always more to learn. Through continual improvement and collaboration with organisations such as PACTS, the company aims to reduce incidents further while helping to create a safer road environment for everyone.
