PACTS and the Association for Road Risk Management (ARRM) brought together policymakers, fleet operators, safety professionals and industry stakeholders for a day of discussion on the proposed National Work-Related Road Safety Charter.
The conference explored what the Charter needs to achieve and how it can support organisations to reduce work-related road risk while improving safety for workers and other road users.
What did we discuss?
Through presentations, panel discussions and facilitated workshops, delegates considered:
-
- Who the Charter should target and what level it should operate at
- What the Charter should include and how detailed it should be
- How existing initiatives and standards can support implementation
- Where the bar should be set for organisations signing up
- How participation and progress should be monitored
- The data, governance and accountability needed to deliver meaningful change
The programme brought together perspectives from government, policing, academia, fleet and road risk management, transport, logistics, rail and major employers.
The discussions highlighted the importance of developing a Charter that is practical, evidence-based and meaningful across different sectors, while supporting organisations to take action on work-related road risk.
Thank you
We would like to thank all our speakers, panellists, workshop participants and delegates for sharing their expertise and contributing to the discussion.
We are also grateful to ARRM and National Highways’ Driving for Better Business programme for their support in delivering the conference.
