PACTS has written to the Secretary of State for Transport, Rt Hon Grant Shapps, urging improved safety on smart motorways. PACTS insists that these measures must be funded by additional government grant, or from Highways England’s major schemes budget, and not from its road safety budgets which are needed for other works on the network. A Westminster Hall Debate on the Safety of All-Lane Running will take place at 11am on Wednesday 22nd January. At the request of the UN General Assembly, the Government of Sweden will host – in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) – the 3rd Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety from 19-20 February 2020 in Stockholm, Sweden under the theme “Achieving Global Goals 2030”.
