Rail Safety Working Party appoints new vice-chair
PACTS is pleased to announce that David Packer has accepted the role of vice-chair of the Rail Safety Working Party. David is a railway professional with broad industry experience, covering heavy rail, light rail and metro. Most recently, David led the Permanent Way Institution as its first CEO, which he transformed into a sustainable business as a licensed professional engineering institution, widely supported by the industry. Currently, David is a Board member of the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway.
The appointment follows an open recruitment process this spring. PACTS received applications and expressions of interest from a number of high quality candidates. David joins Carolyn Griffiths, Chair of the Working Party and founder of the UK’s Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) and Chief Inspector during its first 10 years of operations
