PACTS has today published jointly with the RAC Foundation a report looking at the impact of recent budget reductions on road safety. The report argues that road safety is an example of the Big Society in action bringing together national and local government, statutory agencies, the private sector and civil society to work together to cut casualties. Recently a policy vacuum has developed in road safety. A new strategy and targets for casualty reduction are vital to maintain continuing progress towards safer roads.
