PACTS is proud to support the launch of the UK Towing Safety Alliance—a new coalition committed to improving towing safety across the country.
With alarming statistics from the DVSA and National Highways showing that unsafe towing continues to pose serious risks on UK roads, the Alliance brings together leading organisations from across sectors. Founding members include the National Caravan Council (NCC), TyreSafe, NFU Mutual, Road Safety GB, Driving for Better Business, The Camping and Caravanning Club, The British Horse Society, The Caravan and Motorhome Club, The Pony Club, and many others.
In its first major campaign, the Alliance has introduced TLC – Tyres, Load, Connectivity, an easy-to-remember safety checklist designed to help individuals and businesses ensure their trailers, caravans, and horseboxes are roadworthy and legally compliant.

Tyres – Check inflation, tread depth and damage, including signs of ageing.

Load – Ensure items are secure, evenly distributed and within weight limits.

Connectivity – Confirm breakaway cables, lights and electrical connections are secure and functional.

The campaign will be supported by free digital and physical materials that organisations can use to promote safer towing practices to their communities and members.
“The statistics from both the DVSA and National Highways demonstrate an urgent need to improve towing safety across the UK,” said Jamie Hassall, Executive Director at PACTS. “This collaborative effort will ensure that drivers have the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions and reduce the risks associated with towing.”
