In Parliament on the 02.06.15 the three main party leaders agreed the allocation of chairs for the new session’s select committees under standing order 122B.
Labour has again been allocated the Transport Select Committee. The election of chairs are expected to take place over the next two weeks.
During the previous Government the Labour party was also allocated to the Transport Select Committee, which was chaired by Louise Ellman MP (Liverpool Riverside). She has been a member of the Transport Select Committee and its predecessor (Transport, local government and the regions) since she was first elected in 1997. She was elected to the position of Chair in 2008, when the post became vacant following the death of Gwyneth Dunwoody MP.
