The Transport Select Committee’s report into the Bus Services Bill has been published (25th November 2016). Available in full here.
Welcoming publication of the report, PACTS Executive Director David Davies said:
“The Bus Services Bill is an enabling Bill and the Transport Committee has understandably focused on the procedural arrangements for franchising and partnerships. PACTS submitted evidence about the need to specify a duty of safety and reporting arrangements. The Committee has recommended that the Department for Transport produce guidance to assist authorities with performance and reporting frameworks. This would be a logical place to include guidance on safety matters and we urge the Department to do so. PACTS will continue to press for an amendment to the Bill so that safety is prioritised in bus franchise contracts.”
PACTS submitted evidence to the inquiry which can be read in full here.
